  About The School

Knob Noster Elementary

Knob Noster Elementary proudly serves approximately 390 students in kindergarten through fourth grade in the Knob Noster and Whiteman AFB area.  Each grade level consists of four classrooms with an average population of 21.  Our highly qualified and experienced instructional staff offer an engaging curriculum aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards.

Our building uses the following textbook series and programs to assist with reading, language arts and math instruction as well as student assessment.  For detailed information about each program or series, please click on the links provided or contact your child’s classroom teacher.

·         Accelerated Reader (AR)

AR/STAR is a computer program that helps students to choose and read books at their independent reading level based on their STAR reading score or ZPD. When they finish the book, students will take a short quiz which assists teachers in setting reading goals and instruction.

·         Math in Focus: Singapore Math

Math in Focus:  Singapore Math focuses on problem solving while developing skills, concepts, processes and metacognition in mathematics.

·         Missouri Learning Standards

The Missouri Learning Standards, aligned to the Show Me Standards, were developed by Missourians for Missouri students define the knowledge and skills that students need at each grade level in order to be successful in college and other post-secondary training and careers.

·         Response to Intervention (RTI)

KNE students begin each day with a 30 minutes RTI session which provides small group instruction to strengthen math, reading and critical thinking skills.

·         Wonders

The Wonders reading series is used by staff to provide reading and language arts instruction.

Classes will participate in a four day “Specials” rotation that will include a 50 minute session in Art, Music, PE and Library/Counseling/Technology.

Classes will participate in monthly assemblies that recognize one student from each classroom who displays the Character Trait of the Month and one student from each grade level that has shown growth in reading skills.
